Vikki L. Pryor is president and chief executive officer of SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Company, Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary S.USA Life Insurance Company, Inc. Rooted in a deep belief in human potential, SBLI USA’s mission is to provide financial services, education, access, and basic life insurance products to families.
Under Pryor’s leadership since 1999, SBLI USA has continued to experience expansion through the launch of new products, services and successful distribution channels. This expansion has reversed a ten-year decline and resulted in an average annual sales growth of eight percent through 2007 and steady sales and renewals during the recent economic downturn. Pryor’s focus on women is mirrored in the company’s cultural representation. Women comprise 60 percent of the company’s board of directors, 57 percent of its associates, and 37 percent of them serve in management roles. In 2009, 62 percent of new sales have been from the women’s market.
Pryor is a Certified Public Accountant, a Chartered Life Underwriter, and a Chartered Financial Consultant. Her previous experience includes profit and loss management; multi-system operations; corporate auditing; product management; marketing and business development; strategic planning; process redesign; and performance management.
In addition to serving on the board of directors of SBLI USA, Pryor serves on the National Board of the Girl Scouts of the USA, the Women's Forum, the Board of the Partnership for New York City, and American Council of Life Insurers' Forum 500. She is on the Citi Advisory Board for Citigroup's Security and Fund Services, the Small Business and Agriculture Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and is also a member of the Dean's Advisory Council of the University at Buffalo Law School, her alma mater.
Pryor holds bachelor and Juris Doctorate degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In May 2004, she received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degree from Sacred Heart University and a Presidential Medallion from Bronx Community College in 2008.
